THE WOMEN'S RACE-by Carmen Mosquera

THE WOMEN'S RACE

Every year hundreds of women run the women’s race. They do it because they are representing and supporting all those women who have breast cancer.
This year I have the chance to apply for running it, so some friends and I decided to run it. For us it was a challenge because we had never run a race before!! We wanted to finish it at all so we went out to finish it in any way.
The race went through the main places of Madrid, and it was awesome because while we were running we could enjoy the sight of beautiful monuments, parks, etc. The race was 6,3Km long; the first two kilometers were the worst ones because there was a huge amount of people, the rest of the race was perfect!! It is true that the slopes were hard but there were several people who cheered up us.
When we crossed the finish line we were so glad and also exhausted. To finish it, it took us about 40 minutes!! When we arrived to the finish line there were several stands with food, drinks, etc. We were so hungry after the race that we went to eat a filling breakfast and it was delicious!!
Most of the runners wore a pink t-shirt and a number, which we had to pay for. The money raised was destined for the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
I recommend this race to all girls and also boys because it is an amazing and rewarding experience. Remember that you make a gesture of generosity to someone who is ill and you’ve never known if you are going to be in that position some day.
I hope you can run this race at least once because it is really worth it!!!
