MY IDOL: LIONEL MESSI-by Mario Campos

My idol

My idol has always been the worldwide known football player Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi is currently playing at Football Club Barcelona (FCB) where he has now become the best player in the world and he has had the luck to play alongside amazing players such as Xavi Hernández, Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho, Iniesta and many more.

Messi was born in Rosario, Argentina on 24^th June, 1987. When Messi was little, in 1995 he started to play in an Argentinian football club called the Newell’s Old Boys.

 At the age of 8 he was diagnosed with a growth problem, the treatment to cure this was too expensive for his family to be able to afford it, but luckily for him FCB had already put an eye on this little ‘alien’, and they made a pact with Messi’s family which consisted on paying his growing treatment if he went to Barcelona to continue his career over there. This was all signed on a napkin.

He made his debut with FC Barcelona’s first team on December, 2003 in a friendly game against FC Porto.

This marvelous player has already won many different trophies such as: 7 la Liga trophies, 4 UEFA Champions league trophies, 3 Copa del Rey trophies, 3 UEFA Super Cup, 6 Spanish Super Cup, 3 FIFA Club World Cup with FC Barcelona; an Olympics gold medal in 2008 with Argentina; and 3 times la Liga top scorer, 4 times  2nd at FIFA WORLD PLAYER, 2 times UEFA best player, 3 golden boots, 5 times Champions league top scorer, one world cup golden ball and finally 5 times FIFA Ballon d'Or winner (just today he has won his 5^th) by himself.

This is why Lionel Messi has always been my idol.
