SCHOOL-by Joaquin Echanove

SCHOOL

School is that place where everyone goes when they are between 2 to 16 years old and they learn important things or facts so when they grow up and have a job, so they can use their skills and get more paid so they can grow up a family and have a house and be able to give an education to their children.

In my own opinion, I think that school is very important to have a job.
But also I think that teachers give students loads of homework and things to study for little time.
Also, I think that teachers should give pupils more collective work so they can improve in that aspect

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog

NEW TECHNOLOGIES-by Paloma Macazaga

New technologies
The development of technology has completely changed our lives, and what has made a major impact is the Internet. These new technologies have many advantages, but they surely have some disadvantages.
On the one hand, they’ve improved communication all around the World. Nowadays staying in contact with friends who live on the other side of the World isn’t a problem, and it’s not just that you can chat with them, but you can also use apps such as Skype or Facetime to talk and see them at the same time. Also, since the Internet gives us easy and fast access to information, we can use it for many things like doing research for projects and homework, learning new stuff or getting the latest news as there are many news websites that are continuously adding new information. The Internet broadens the way to educate because there are many online courses which are available to everyone and they’re easy to get into as most of them are free. It allows people to acquire new abilities by using the right apps and websites and it lets us have other ways of learning.

On the other hand, it is a huge distraction to everyone, not just teenagers. Having computers, phones, tablets… while working or studying is in my opinion a mistake because you can easily get the desire to use them; and the same problem happens when you work on the computer. It has got its good things, but you only need to click once to open a new tab and start doing other things which are only keeping you from doing your work. The internet may have endless information, but it isn’t always true. For instance, many people use Wikipedia to get info but anyone can upload whatever they want there, so it isn’t very reliable, though people use it anyway. Even though we are able to communicate easily, it isn’t a high quality way of communication so it shouldn’t replace going out and meeting with other people face to face. Last but not least, we are addicted to all these new technologies. We spend a crazy amount of time on the internet which is taking away time that we could use to do productive things, it makes some of us stay in our rooms for what feels like our whole lives and sometimes when we’re with other people we use our phones instead of talking to them which is very disrespectful.

ATLETICO DE MADRID vs DEPORTIVO LA CORUÑA-by Alejandro Mira

FOOTBALL MATCH: ATLÉTICO DE MADRID-DEPORTIVO DE LA CORUÑA.
Today I am going to talk about that match. It was yesterday 12thh of march at 8:30pm, Atlético de Madrid won against Deportivo de la Coruña 3-0, It was a good match, Atlético was better than Deportivo in all the aspects, the first goal became early by Saúl Ñiguez in the minute 18, Filipe Luis gave him the goal pass. He scored the goal with his head. It was a beautiful goal. The second came in the 60th minute by Griezmann, one of the best  players in the world. Koke gave him the goal pass and the third goal was scored by Correa in the 83rd minute. Gabi gave him the goal pass.

It was a complete match of Atlético, but now they have a very important Champions League match against PSV at the Vicente Calderón Stadium. This match is on Tuesday and if Atlético wins they will be in quarter finals. I think that this year Atlético has a lot of opportunities of winning the Champions League. A dream for all the Atlético fans.

TECHNOLOGY-by Maria Jose Gutierrez

TECHNOLOGY

Technology can be seen everywhere: at home , away from home in the supermarket, at school…
As I said before, in many places.

Most of the people who read newspaper or magazines, now , are downloaded on our own mobile devices:  e-books, mobiles, computers , laptops…
Their revolutionizes all  our lives for the more comfortable.
But that´s not all that has changed our lives .

The modern domestic appliances are very important to help us all the time , because if we don’t have them, we spend a lot of time cleaning all the house. For example : vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, washing machine…

Also it’s helpful for discover news in a short period of time .

In summary the technology makes an easier life.

CITIES I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT-by Juan Ybañez

CITIES I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT

In this blog I'm going  to talk about my TOP 3 cities that I would like to go on holiday.

3-.On third place of the top list, the city I would love to go to is New York
This is one of my favourite places in North America. Just like those cities with lots of people walking around the place, another thing I also like about New York are the enormous shops that the Americans have. You can find whatever you want!
My mum went last year , she bought me lots of new clothes and she promised me
that one day we would go together

2-.My second choice is Hawaii, in my opinion this city is one of the most beautiful cities that I have seen in pictures. This place has everything: good weather, nice mountains and delicious food. Although the best thing from this small island are the beaches, the beaches are perfect for people who like to surf or bodyboard. The waves are outstanding. Non of my family members has gone there but if you are thinking of for going I would really recommend it to you all.

1-.Finally the first place goes to Rome! You will think this might not the best place but in my opinion this is most gorgeous city in Europe, I like this city because of the monuments are extremely interesting and amazing. This city also gives you opportunity to move around to another city like the Vatican where you can say hi to the Pope.

ZOOS-by Neo Forcada

The zoos are places where animals live in captivity. There are a flat of types of zoos, some keep the animals in cages. Some of them have animals from all parts of the world

The oldest zoo was founded in Vienna in 1755 and the first zoo in Madrid was built in 1775. Before, zoos were related to royal power.

In the XIX century they were used to educate citizens.

Some of advantages of zoos are educational values and the research interest. Moreover, it brings the possibility to see animals that you couldn't see before in your live. But there are also disadvantages,  the animals stress because they aren't used to see people a lot of times. They don´t have enough space and they live in cages,

Furthermore, sometimes the zookeepers abuse the animals and sell them illegaly.

Putting everything together, I don't like going to the zoos.

FRIDAY 13th OR TUESDAY 13th?-by Leticia Catasús

Are you superstitious? Friday 13th or Tuesday 13th?
Friday 13th is considered an unlucky day in the Anglo-Saxon cultures. We have seen many scary films which show all kind of horrors and threatening situations and murders happening on a Friday 13th.
But, why a Friday 13th brings loads of bad luck to the Anglo-Saxon culture?
It all goes back to Friday, October 13, 1307 when the Order of the Templar Knights  was persecuted by the Holy Inquisition and many of its members were arrested all over Europe. The Holy Inquisition gave this order accusing them of pagan celebrations and practice of heresy, sodomy and not respecting the holy cross of the Christians. In such terrible Friday, all of them were killed. From then, Friday 13th, has been considered a day of bad luck and terror.
Spanish population does not consider that Friday 13th is a bad luck day. We consider that Tuesday 13th is the real unlucky day. We even have a proverb which says “On Tuesday 13th, neither you marry nor you embark nor you leave your home”. Tuesday 13th’ bringing bad luck origin is much older than Friday 13 history. In the Classical Antiquity and the Middle Ages, the gods were very present and precisely Tuesday was the day devoted to one of them: Mars the "god of war "; Mars meant will energy, tension and aggressiveness. Tuesday was governed by the red planet, and it was considered a day of destruction, blood and violence.  In ancient times the number 13 was a bad odd number, linked to the number of people at the Last Supper of Jesus Christ and in the Tarot cards this number corresponds to death.

So, there are two different days of the week that may bring you bad luck; which one is yours,Tuesday 13th or Friday 13th? Just in case…. don’t get married, don’t embark and don’t’ leave your house neither on a Friday 13th, nor on a Tuesday 13th… better prevent than having to cure.

MY SUMMER VACATION:LAKE GREELEY CAMP-by Silvia Casado

My summer vacation: Lake Greeley Camp.

On my summer vacation I went to a camp called Lake Greeley Camp in Pensilvania, next to New Jersey.
It was a sports camp, we were doing sports the whole time. It was quite fun because you were always doing something so you never got bored. At night we also did traditional camp things like singing and tell stories around the bonfire. That was my favourite night activity because we just sat around the fire and ate marshmellows having a great time with all our Friends. There were people of all ages, from 3 years old to 16 years old. We were separated in cabins. My cabin was bobolinks, and we were eleven people sleeping in the same cabin and two cancellers that slept with us.
At first I was a bit scared because I was going on my own, but after that I was so happy that I didn’t want to leave. I made Friends from all over the world the filipines, france, puerto rico etc...
All of the sports were great so I don’t think I could think of a favourite one. Also the food was awesome. I could have been eating for hours, I would never get full enough: sweets, pizza, chocolate… and when we where at the cantine we always sang some songs before starting to eat. It was so much fun…  an experience that I would repeat every summer once again.

PATHETIC PEOPLE-by Rubén Gómez

I have bad news for us: ridiculous people never die. In this blog, I´m going to talk about two pathetic videos.
1. LA OLA, STEISY.
A lot of you maybe are thinking: Who is Steisy? Steisy is '' famous'' for being a part of "Mujeres, hombres y viceversa", a show where all the tacky people go to ''find love''. Only because of the program we know the song which she made.
Steisy is the tipycal girl who wants to be famous and only have bad fame. This song is so stupid and ridiculous... I can't continue to speak about this because it goes against my morals. To devote time to people like Steisy is a very stupid thing. These people only want to be spoken about, to be the centre of attention.

2. MUERO DE AMOR, PAULA.
If you dont see GH you won't know Paula is, she is ¨famous¨for competing and winning in GH 15. It's a young girl and sometimes she has a o lot of style, but...the song says ´muero de amor´and she only puts her face in the videoclip. It only says ´muero de amor´ all the time!!!
She didn't win GH 15 for being the most intelligent of the competitors, she won GH 15 for being a victim because her ´boyfriend´ he was unfaithful in the house. I think who wins a reallity show shouldn't be a singer nor a  model.

THE CONCLUSION: everybody can be famous in Spain for making a song.

WE CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT!-by Gonzalo de la Peña

WE CAN´T LIVE WITHOUT IT!
The only gadget you´ll ever need is a mobile phone.
Nowadays you can make almost everything with your mobile phone. For example: you can make calls, send messages, take photos or record video clips.
However, the latest models are even more advanced. You can connect to the Internet, and use the mobile phone like a PC. It is possible to download music, films, sport events or to send emails. You can also watch the news or play video games. There are many kinds of applications for all kind of interests. Everybody can find something entertaining on their mobile phone.
Nowadays one of the most important things is communication. If we can´t get in touch with friends and family we can´t make arrangements and we can´t solve so many problems. If we didn´t have this gadget our life would be more difficult and we wouldn´t be so open-minded.

We might be addicted to this technology but we can´t live without it.

MY SUMMER-by Marta de la Cuesta

My summer:
Last summer I have been in Majorca as every year. My family and I go to this island by ferry, in which we spend 8 hours.
We have many plans to do:
We can go to El Arenal's beach, it is a beach which has a "chiringuito" and it's about 30 minutes from my house. We go once per summer to Estrenc's beach which is a very big beach that has lots of small shops in it.
We also have a boat that we take to go to different creeks. One of the most beautiful places that I have been in the boat is Cabrera island. An island where there are no people. The water is very clean and transparent in it. My favorite thing to do in Majorca is to go to San Salvador; It is a mountain that the summit has a church where you can pray and a well for drinking holy water. Finally what I most like to do at the end of the day is to go out at night to a village called Cala d'Or which is in Majorca and where I have many friends.

MY TRIP TO ITALY-by Blanca Fernández

Today I have decided to talk about my trip to Italy.
Three year ago I flew from Madrid to Milan. It was a family trip, my sisters were happy to visit a foreign country but I was the most excited one because Italy had always been my favorite place to see. It was the first of June. The sun was shining and the sky was blue: the perfect combination for a great holiday. The first city of our tour was Milan. Now I understand why they call it the capital of fashion: everybody likes to dress up and to go shopping. Shops were classy and always full of elegant people. They were expensive too!!
We visited the famous cathedral called "Duomo di Milano" and the "Castello Sforzesco": very impressive.
After a couple of days we traveled to Venice, the famous city on the water. It was amazing!! We had never seen a city like it. To go from one place to another we had to cross many bridges and even take a ferry to visit the isle of Murano and Burano. Apparently the best time of the year to visit it is during Carnival . The citizens of Venice wear traditional costumes and beautiful handmade masks. It is like going back in time.
Our last stop was Rome, the monumental city. We stayed for four days because we had many things to visit. I must say that Rome is one of the world's most beautiful and ancient cities. We saw museums, basilicas, theaters, temples, ancient ruins and of course the Roman Colosseum: absolutely great!!Before I end my story , I want to share with all of you my passion for Italian food : always delicious and incomparable. My favorite food was "Lasagne alla bolognese".
I will never forget this experience and I hope to go back very soon, this time with my friends.

MARVEL-by Juan Molina

Marvel is an entertainment company that has a lot of products: movies, books, comics and so on.

Marvel started off in 1939 and was created by Martin Gooman and Stan Lee (who had the idea) with the name of Timely comics. Among the most famous characters are Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Wolverine, Deadpool, Spiderman, X-Men...

In 2009, Marvel company was bought by the giant multinational Walt Disney for a price of four thousand billion dollars. Then, in 2008, Marvel Studios started doing their own movies (Iron Man trilogy, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, The Avengers...).

Movies that are expected for 2016: Captain America Civil War, Black Panther Deadpool (already in cinemas) and Doctor Strange.

In my opinion Marvel is really an exciting movie production company because of their films that improve a lot the experience of the Marvel Universe. I really like them. In fact I think most of the people over the world are super excited about these films, I mean lots of movies that are right now in cinemas are from Marvel Studios and these films are really watched by different people or maybe more watched by teenagers, well I don´t actually know that, but these movies are pretty famous and also very good.

THE OSCARS 2016-by Marina Pérez

The Oscars 2016
The 88th Academy Awards ceremony honoured the best films, actors and actress of 2015 and took place on February 28th, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
My favourite winners of that night were: Leonardo Dicaprio (the prize for the best actor) Spotlight (the prize for the best picture) and Inside out (the prize for the best animated feature film).
A lot of groups and singers played in the ceremony like The Weekend, Sam Smith but especially for me, Lady Gaga who sang"Till it happens to you". This song had a lot of emotions for most of the people.

There were people very well dressed like Jennifer Lawrence and we saw a lot of famous couples like Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.

TECHNOLOGY-by María Cabeza

The technology nowadays is indispensable in everyone's life.
From searching in the web to using the elevator of your house the technology has been programmed to make our life easier.
But just like everything does, it has the negative part, and it is that use of the technology on our phones, on the computer and all that stuff can become a vice.

Don´t you spend more tan 30 minutes per day using your phone, searching in the web, looking for some Wi-Fi or stop doing what you are doing to look at your phone? Well, that means you are a little bit addicted to the Internet, and you depend on your phone, and that is becoming unusual in our society but it shouldn't.

A few years ago, not many, only a few people had a mobile phone, and more years ago, the land line was the greatest and most modern invention of the century. But technology is improving, and it is happening so fast that, in my opinion, in not a really far future, the majority of our lives will depend on it. And we will not know how to life or to be independent without it.

LEONARDO DI CAPRIO FINALLY WINS AN OSCAR!-by Diego Bufalá

Leonardo Di Caprio finally wins an Oscar!
-After being nominated 7 times to the Oscars  throughout  his cinematic career, Leonardo has finally gotten the Oscar for the best actor with his amazing "Revenant".
-Di Caprio has had a cinematic career full of glory with movies such as Romeo and Juliet, Titanic and even The wolf of wall street being the major character; also as secondary character in "Django", but he had never won an oscar until yesterday night!

Leonardo is loved by millions of fans and I´ve got to say I am one of them. Critics and probably the jury as well thinks that he didn´t deserve the Oscar for the Revenant; but he did for all he´s given to the cinematic community. This was sort of a redeem coming from the Oscar awards for all those years he was nominated and just didn´t get it.
- Also I´ve got to say that Leonardo didn´t just give a superficial speech about how happy he was(I bet he was REALLY pleased) but he talked about our environment and global warming, and in my opinion that has great value.

ELLIE GOULDING-by Casilda Troncoso

Her real name is Elena Jane Goulding. She is from the United Kindom and she is 29 years old. Since she was a child, she has been interested in music. She started playing guitar and drums and she took singing lessons until 2010, when she became famous for her song "lights".
She is now one of the most internationally-known singers and she is touring around the world and she won't stop winnig awards.

BIOGRAPHY AND ART OF VINCENT VAN GOGH-by Cristina Barreto

BIOGRAPHY AND ART OF VINCENT VAN GOGH

Vincent Van Gogh was a postimpressionist artist who painted about 900 pictures.
He was born on March 30th of 1853 in Groot-Zunder, Netherland. He was very close to his brother, Theo, who gave him a great moral and economic support.
He left school on 1868 and on 1869 he began working as an apprentice in an art gallery. He was intended to Paris and London, but he was dismissed from his job on 1878.
Vincent decided to become a painter. On 1880 he settled in Brussels and enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts.

He spent two years in Nuenen. On 1885 he moved to Antwerp and on 1886 he continued his studies in Paris, where he contacted with the impressionists. He met Paul Gauguin in autumn of that year.

On February of 1888, Vincent moved to Arles. He rented a house and invited Gauguin to settle with him. On December 23rd, they had a fight and Vincent threatened Gauguin with a razor. After that, Gauguin left Vincent, who cut his right earlobe as a gesture of repentance.
After this event, Vincent was admitted to a hospital. In January of 1890 he returned to his home, where he painted several self-portraits. In February, he was readmitted to the hospital for suffering hallucinations. After several incidents with his neighbors, Vincent voluntarily entered in the mental hospital of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole.
On July 27th Vincent shot himself. He received medical attention but he didn’t allow the doctors to remove the bullet. Theo spent the day with Vincent, who died on July 29th, 1890.
Van Gogh died poor, and his last sentence was: “I risked my life for my work, and my reason was always undermined”.

Some of his most famous paintings are: Starry Night, Sunflowers, The Bedroom, Blossoming Almond Tree, The Night Café, and The Potato Eaters.

MY TRIP TO LISBON-by Eugenia Rodríguez

My trip to Lisbon
Last Easter Holidays I went to Lisbon with my father and my brother.
We rented a car with a convertible top to go to Lisbon. It was very funny but your hair tangled a lot and it was so uncomfortable. The trip to Lisbon was very boring because it was 6 hours by car.
Finally we arrived in Lisbon at 10pm so we were very tired and we went to sleep.
On our first day we visited Lisbon. We went to saw the Tower of Belem, The Monastery of the Jerónimos and we walked around the promenade.
In Lisbon we stayed for a few of days and we also visited the Elevator of Santa Justa, the uptown of Lisbon and the Castillo of San Jorge.
It was beautiful but it wasn’t my first time at Lisbon so I remembered everything a little bit.
We also went to the Cabo de Roca, located at the point more occidental of Europe. I saw how the waves crashed with the rocks and how the sun went down. I liked it so much.
On our trip we went to Cascais and we stayed the full day there, we went to the Playa do Gincho but it was cold so we didn’t bath.
We also visited Nazaré, a very beautiful village where there are the biggest waves in the world. We went to the Forte of Sao Miguel and a resident of Nazaré explained to us how the waves are formed and why they get that size.
We went up to the top part of Nazaré, so we could see all Nazaré beneath us, it was incredible. We saw how the sun goes down and the views were beautiful.
Finally we visited the Sintra Palace that is located at the mountains of Sintra, so to get inside of the palace you have to walk enough. It is an incredible palace made of different colors, where you can see a beautiful landscape when you are at the top.
My favorite place of this trip were the Cabo de Roca, I think the landscape I saw when I was there were incredible.

It was a fantastic trip that I enjoyed a lot and I visited very beautiful places.

MY SUMMER IN FRANCE-by Sofía Marcos

MY SUMMER IN FRANCE

I am going to write about how my last summer consisted on joining a summer camp in France. This camp is called UCPA, it is not only located in France, Bordeaux, it seems it's in some other places as well. It has got so many different sports and activities.
UCPA is a camp for kids from 12 to 17 years of age. Although it has got another camp situated in a small village in France, which includes the ages are from 6 to 12, they have different sports depending on the spot they are situated in. Both of them have people from different cultures; most of the pupils are from Paris. The one I have been to is the first one I have been named. It has got so many different sports which are; climbing, surfing, dancing clubs, singing clubs, go cycling, acting, go sailing, windsurf and kite surf. Most of them were aquatic sports. If you didn’t want to do anything you could go to the beach and relax.

In my opinion this camp was an awesome opportunity to meet people from other countries and also to learn new sports like surfing which I didn’t know of before. I fully recommend enjoying this summer camp because of the fun and to get to meet different people.

EL RETIRO-MADRID-by Marta Ros

EL RETIRO-MADRID

The Retiro park is a lovely and very touristic place to spend the day out with family or friends.
If you look straight into the monument of Puerta de Alcala you will find a gigantic garden in front of you which is asplendid place and it has got plenty of trees and a fresh air sensation when you breathe in deeply.
This enormous park was first opened to the public on 1868 and it has got 142 hectars.
It is a place where people practice all kinds of sports such as jogging, cycling or running. However you can also find a wide range of activities to do with your family.
If you go walking around the Retiro you will find zoological gardens, rose gardens, the lake where you can rent rowing boats and I assure you will have an amazing time.
Children can also see puppet shows, musicians and in case the little ones get bored, you can always rely on the slides and swings spread out in Retiro.
At lunch time you can buy sandwiches and have a relaxing picnic on the grass and afterwards pick up some bikes, from Madrid`s city council. They are called Bicimad and you have to look for a station which you can easily find by downloading the app.
In conclusion, I believe Retiro is such a magical and fun place for a day out with family or friends.

I would highly recommend it for families because of the natural atmosphere and open space for children.

THE PEACE DAY-by Fabiola Morera

The Peace day!

This year, at school, we celebrated the peace day in a different way. We were meant to celebrate it on Friday, but because of the rain we celebrated it the following Tuesday.
So basically what we did that day was that all school had to reunite at the playground, from the little ones (two years old) to the oldest ones (eighteen years old) and also all the teachers were there. To get everyone in the playground in an organized way, all the pupils from secondary and Bachillerato had to go to Primary and Infantil holding the hand of two children (one on each hand) after that had to go to the playground and stand where the teacher told as. We weren’t standing just there , we were standing in a special way, I mean, there was  PAZ (peace) written on the flour and a kind of ball of yarn. When we were standing in our places one person of each year had to hold a white balloon and one teacher read something and then we threw the balloon in the air. After that we had a minute of silence to pray and then we sang a song.
I think that this was a fun and different experience which I found very interesting and cool, because for the first time in my life ALL THE SCHOOL was reunited in the same place all quiet and praying for peace. It was such a beautiful act and I would love to do something similar next year.

CLAUDINA THEVENET-by Carmen Mosquera

Today I am going to talk about a wonderful, brave and good woman: Claudina Thevent, our founder. As you know her life wasn’t a piece of cake and she had to work really hard since she was young.
Anyway, I am going to tell you her story to remember it:
  • Claudina, Glady for her family, was born in Lyon, France on 30 th March 1174. She was the second of seven siblings: 4 sisters (Elisabeth, Fany, Leonor and herself) and 3 brothers (Luis Antonio, Francisco Maria and Juan Luis).
  • Her mother, Maria Antonieta, and her father, Filiberto, worked as silk makers, so Claudina and her siblings helped them a lot.
  • At school, Claudina learnt to read, to sew, to draw, to pray, etc.
  • When Claudina was 15 years old, the French Revolution broke up and two of her brothers, Luis Antonio and Francisco Maria, went to this devastating war to fight for their country. Unfortunately, they were taken prisoners. Claudina was very sad and she always tried to see and bring them some food. In January 1794, their brothers were killed in front of Claudina. Before they died they said to Claudina: “Forgive us as we also have forgiven”.
  • When the French Revolution finished (1789), there were hundreds of orphaned children without food, clothes, homes, etc.
  • Claudina decided to help orphaned girls and she opened schools to teach them how to read, draw, write, pray, etc. Most of the days Claudina took more orphaned girls in, so she and her friends had a great idea: live in houses where the orphaned girls could play, study, sleep, etc. These houses needed a name so they chose one “Jesus-Maria Religious”. The nuns helped the girls a lot and the girls were very happy.
  • Claudina died on 3rd of February 1837 and her last words were: “How good is God ”.
I think Claudina is one of the best examples to be followed.
Nowadays, our society is surrounded by violence, so now is our turn to make this world more peaceful.
