THE NIGHT OF HALLOWEEN-by Victoria Goiriena

  

Betty and Sara were walking home from school on the day of Halloween.

Betty said to Sara "What do you think we should dress up as ?" Sara replied "Why don´t we use are witches costumes from years ago ?"

They both agreed it was a great idea. They arranged to meet at Betty´s house around ten o´clock that night. Sara arrived at Betty´s house with her costume during which time Betty asked her mother if she could borrow some make-up to paint their faces.

Once they were ready they said good bye to Betty´s mum who was laughing laudly because the two girls looked very funny and scary in their costumes.

The two girls proceeded going from house to house, ringing door bells and shouting "trick or treat".

Finally they arrived at number 13, the house where the old woman lived. 

Everybody thought she was a little strange as hardly anyone ever saw her or spoke to her.

The girls were feeling frighted as they rang the door bell. Slowly the door opened and an old woman with a wrinkled face appeared.

She shouted "What do you want?" Sara replied" It's Halloween! Trick or treat?". The old woman invited them into the house.

It was very dark and cold.

The old lady said "one moment please! I´m going to look for something to give you". She disappeard into the darkness. Everything was quiet.

Suddenly the light went out and Betty felt something touch her leg , she screamed and also Sara.

At that moment of screaming the lights came back on. 

When Sara and Betty looked down at the floor they saw a black cat looking at them, they both started laughing , it was only a cat that had frightened them!.
