The Big Short
'The Big Short' is a great movie that
explains how small groups of people were able to see what economists, banks and
even the goverment couldn´t : the apocalypsis of the world´s economy in 2007
with the bursting of the housing bubble and the beginning of the current
crisis.
The first one to realise everything
was going to hell was Dr. Michael Burry , founder of Scion Capital, who was
blind of one eye and suffered Asperger´s syndrom. Christian Bale does a great
job featuring such role.
Besides him, several other investors tried to tell the
world but no one listened to them, so they decided to take advantage of the
situation: The founders of Cornwall Capital, who started off with 110K US
dollars, reached up to 120 million
dollars.
Steve Eisman and his team, with the help from the bank
officer Bearn Stearns, were able to earn 200 million dollars.
This situation
made them have contradictory feelings: they were becoming millionares and at
the same time thousands of families were losing it all...
