Game
of Thrones season 6 premiere review
After almost a year of
waiting, the sixth season of Game of Thrones has finally been released. The
first chapter, The Red Woman, premiered simultaneously in the US and Spain on April 24th.
The fifth season ended
with the deaths of Stannis, Myrcella and Jon Snow. And this is how the sixth
season begins, with Jon’s corpse being found by their friends.
Moreover, Sansa and
Theon manage to escape from Ramsay Volton with the help of Brienne.
Jaime goes back to
King's Landing with the corpse of Myrcella. Cersey comes to meet the arrival of
the boat and she discovers that she has lost another son. But Myrcella is not
the only victim of the Sand Snakes. They also murder the King of Dorne and his
son.
Meanwhile, in the East,
Tyrion and Varys continue in Meeren while Sir Jorah and Daario try to find
Daenerys, who has been captured by the Dothraki.
Arya continues in Braavos.
She is blind and she makes a living by begging as she begins to develop her
other senses.
And so we reach the
end, certainly the best part of this chapter, where we see the red witch
Melisandre in her room putting off her clothes, admiring her body in the mirror
while she is slowly turning into an old woman ravaged by the years. The body of
a real witch without her powers and spells.
We don’t know anything
about Bran Stark, Daenerys’ dragons or the possible resurrection of Jon Snow;
we will have to wait until the next episode (that will be aired on May 2nd).
But if there is something clear it’s that the chapter has been a bit mediocre,
but fans are already used to the series to get better as the season
progresses.
