UNICEF

UNICEF was created in 1946 by the United Nations General Assembly in order to respond to the urgent needs of children at the end of World War II.

In October 1953 , the organization , then known under the name of International Found of the United Nations Relief Children , became a permanent entity of the United Nations System with a broader mandate: to respond to long needs term of children in developing countries.

Its name was shortened and renamed as the United Nations Fund for Children , although the already known original acronym UNICEF remained.

In 1965 , UNICEF received the Nobel Peace Prize.

UNICEF´S work is focused on children , as well as mothers , principally responsable and guardians of their welfare and development of their capacities.
