My Journey to Cordoba

MY JOURNEY TO CORDOBA- by ManuFP

Hello! This month I am going to write about my trip to Cordoba. On October 24th, I went with my family to Cordoba because it was my mother´s birthday. Friday morning, I went to  school (that day I had a biology test) and at 16:00 we went to the train station where my sister and I saw Chabelita (Isabel Pantoja´s daughter) and she took a picture with her. The trip took two hours, and at 18:30 we were at the hotel Los Naranjos unpacking our stuff. The first thing we visited was the church of San Rafael and at 21:00 we were having dinner in Bodegas Campos eating typical Cordoban food like SalmorejoRabo de toro o flamenquinesBodegas Campos is one of the most important restaurants in Cordoba and it's so important that lot of celebrities like María del Monte Or La Duquesa Alba have gone there and signed wine barrels and pictures. After the dinner, we went to the Roman Bridge and at 23:45 we went back to the hotel.

The next day, which was my mother´s birthday, we went to tourist office and we paid for a guided tour. First, we visited the Mezquita de Cordoba, that is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen because it has a lot of history and is a mixture of the Islamic art of the 8 century and the Gothic of 16 century. Later, the guide showed us the most hidden areas of the town like patios Cordobeses, old muslim´s houses or very strange sculptures (like one of a muslim that you had to touch his left foot if you didn´t want to have bad luck for a year). Then we ate in a tavern near the river and at 16:30 we returned to the hotel to rest. At 18:00 we went to a pub to watch the Real Madrid-Barcelona match, (3-1) and when it finished and went to the water and music show of the Alcazar of Cordoba. Later, we went to have dinner at the Churrasco to celebrate my mother´s birthday and we ate a very delicious rib eye. At 00:00 we gave my mum her presents and we went to the hotel.

On Sunday we attended mass at the Catedral and bought souvenirs for my grandparents.

In conclusion, Cordoba is one of the most interesting Spanish cities for gastronomy. The buildings like Mezquita oAlcazar, its Patios cordobeses but the best thing there is there are the people. If you want to learn more about this town you must ask my friend Catalina who visited Cordoba last Easter.
