The
Alternative Travel Project is a non-profit initiative to convince people, from all
around the world, of the wonderful benefits they would provoke on the
environment just for going Car Free for one day, and encourages people to use
public transit, go cycling, hiking…
ATP
highlights the fact that, if every single person in the world didn’t use their
car for one day, they’d be saving up to 1,170,000,000 trees; because they would
be helping to reduce the amount of CO₂ send out into the atmosphere in 11.7
million tons.
On the other
hand, if you don’t care about saving the planet’s environment, then you may
care about your health. In this case, you’d be interested in knowing that going
Car Free improves your health, helping to reduce the risk of suffering
depression, obesity, insomnia or even prevent various types of cancer.
If you are
still not captivated by the idea of supporting the ATP, just keep reading.
Contributing to ATP would also have a positive impact on your personal economy because,
for example, car maintenance is much more expensive than bike maintenance or
than using public transit. So you’d be saving money!
The amazing
idea of creating ATP came from the world-wide known actress Stana Katić (currently playing the role of Kate
Beckett in Castle). She founded The Alternative Travel Project in 2010 and
right now, she is part of the Team ATP and continues as involved and excited
about ATP as the first day. She shows the world each day that we can’t lose
hope and that we must do our best to save the planet.
In order to raise funds to keep up the good work, ATP organized an online
auction in February. The auction was really successful, many interesting items
were auctioned and a lot of money was raised thanks to the generous biddings
made. Besides, you can always donate any quantity at any time at the ATP’s web.
ATP reminds
people that we all count and that we can all do something to contribute. Even
the smallest and simplest actions have a large environmental consequence. So
please, considerate supporting the Alternative Travel Project and you’ll be
helping to improve the world we live on. And remember:
1 DAY
CAR-FREE=1 BILLION TREES
The team ATP uses social media to promote and spread ATP’s ideas. You can learn more about ATP on its web: http://www.alternativetravelproject.com/impact and also on
