NIGERIAN MUSIC
Nigeria's music is varied and it's divided according to the social and religious groups, each with their own instruments and songs.
We know little about the history of this music but no
instruments of past
centuries which tell us that there
has been some music in Nigeria since
centuries.
Nigeria
is considered the center of African
music and the country that has revolutionized music in Africa. Much of current Nigerian music came from hip-hop and
the music has
been accepted in Africa
and in the West.
Africa has many music
festivals and usually Nigeria wins. These festivals award the best of every musical
genre and one of
the most important festivals in Africa is called the Kora Awards
About
teaching it, like, for example, in Ghana,
it's not a priority. At university, education is given much importance but still,
European countries have great advantage towards Africa
in this field.
Finally, saying that Nigerian music is very curious and we have much to learn about it, this music has great artists but not often recognized as good
musicians. It is important to help these countries, we have much to learn
from them.
