METHOD SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES USE TO HELP STUDENTS FIND JOBS/MY TRIP TO MINNESOTA-by Paula Heras

Methods schools and universities use to help students to find Jobs

If you stop and think about when you were younger and you were finishing high school or maybe college you might ponder the methods that were used to help you find a suitable job ; a job that you truly liked and which would let you achieve the goals you were looking for reaching .

Many people, when asked about what the best job is, answer that having some career advice is really useful but work experience, nowadays, is necessary. However, is one actually better than the other ?

I will not deny the fact that the career guidance is very important, but, from my point of view, it depends on the teacher that gives you that piece of advice: Many mentors cannot give you counsel, because they have never done anything but teaching. That´s why I do not fully share this idea.

On the other hand, the work exposure, whatever job you choose, is going to be essential. Unbelievable as it may seem, when companies have to hire new employees they give more importance to aspects such as social relations and work experience than, for example, qualifications.

In conclusion, these are the reasons why I´d defend that the best way to help young people find their desired job is providing opportunities in order to get work experience.

I´d actually like to study medicine, so I think the best way to learn how to help people and treat them would be being in a hospital everyday and see how professional doctors do it.
This not only would help me to improve my skills but it´d appear in my resume as a work exposure, besides it would be so much fun!!!

My trip to Minnesota

Two years ago, I spent the summer in Minnesota, in the midwest of The USA.
Maybe you don´t know that state, but I´m sure you have heart about Ricky Rubio who is playing in the Minnesota Timerwolves.

I actually didn´t stay in the city, I was hosted by a wonderful family that lived in a small town called Mankato.
This beautiful place is in the suburbs and there are lots of lakes, that´s why it´s second name is ´The land of 10000 lakes´.
There are  11842 lakes over 0,042 km2 and lots of natural parks and forestal reserves.

One day when I was sleeping, all of a sudden, I started hearing a weird noise.
It was kind of like a plane taking off.
I woke up and I came across that it was a mosquito. But not a normal one, or what we understand for it. It was a HUGE mosquito that was looking at me and seeing if it could bite me… It was horrible.
I thought they were exaggerating when they told me that Minnesota was well known as the ´mosquito state´, but now I know they were right!

The 4th of july was great, I went to a parade and it was just like in the movies or in High School Musical!, I mean everybody was singing, dancing and with American flags everywhere!!

We went to the mall too, that is the third biggest mall in America with more than 500 stores, 50 restaurants and 17 movie theaters.
There is also an amusement park inside with more than 20 rides.
I bought lots of clothes and food !!!

In my opinion the activity that I enjoyed the most was when we went to a baseball game because during the break I participated in a contest where you had to eat as much Apple pie as you could, it was SO MUCH fun.

It was a really enriching experience because I learnt so much about the american culture in general and I made pretty good Friends.
I´d love to go back if I ever have the chance.
