NOVEMBER
RAIN- GUNS N’ ROSES:
‘November Rain’ is one of the most famous songs by the
rock band Guns N’ Roses; and it can be found in the album ‘Use Your Illusion I’.
This song lasts almost nine minutes, although live can even last around twelve
minutes, being therefore one of the longest songs of the band.
The
music style of this song is known as power ballad; this style is mostly used in
heavy metal, hard rock and rock, and the songs usually talk about anxiety, love, loss or death. These types of
songs are normally included in the middle of the albums to relax a little and
to make you remember the other songs.
Back to ‘November Rain’; although I’m not the type of
person who listens to long songs, this one is absolutely amazing: a piano and
instruments, belonging to the chord instruments group, initiate the song; soon
after the start, other instruments such as the drums and the guitars begin to
be part of the song, making the relationship between different types of
instruments completely out of this world, while, at the same time, they make
you remember or think of things and relax, getting you involved in all of the
chords and notes.
The music video tries to represent one of the lead
singer’s, Axl Rose, relationship, in which his girlfriend (which then became
his wife for six years) tried to commit suicide because of the abusive
relationship they had.
In my opinion; this classic must be heard by everyone.
You will never get bored of it; you will find new reasons why you love it. The
guitar solos are, hands down, one of the bests I’ve ever heard, and it’s just
the perfect song if you need to think, relax or just have a good time.
