HOLY WEEK IN SEVILLE-by Patricia González

HOLY WEEK IN SEVILLE

In 2015 Holy Week will be in the week from 19th March - 6th April. Semana Santa is the Holy Week and Sevilla’s celebration is likely the most famous in the world.
There are more than 55 church brotherhoods, some dating as far back as the 13th century, which take part in Semana Santa, carrying over 115 different floats, or pasos, through the streets of Sevilla. Nazarenos accompany the pasos in the march and in some cases number more than 2,000 for certain processions.
During Easter week I go to a village that this placed an hour of Seville declared in 1.999 Holiday party of Tourist National Interest of Andalusia for its historical and artistic value, the Holy Week of Osuna is the religious big festivity of the village .
Osuna is a very nice village with very cozy places and nice people.
The Good Friday comes two days before Easter my cousin and I go out with the procession of the Virgin of Sorrows, it is a familiar tradition when my grandfather was young he did the same.
We have to dress in a robe and cone shaped hood to hide our identity. In the procession you must not speak and you must not gown your cap .
Colors of robes depend of the procession. I wear a black robe and and a  black altar candle.
