TEAM ICO-by Jaime San Jose

TEAM ICO

Amongst all the videogame companies that rise nowadays, I am going to talk about my personal favourite one: Team Ico.
Team Ico is a team of videogame software engineers part of the company Sony Computer Entertainment, a Japanese multinational corporation, based in Tokyo. Sony, as one of the leader manufacturers of electronic products, also stands out as a videogame corporation, where Team Ico comes along as one of the many teams that develop Sony’s videogames.
Since Team Ico was born in 1996, they have created two videogames in the last years and they are developing one more with no releasing date yet. They began to develop the first one in 1996, with Fumito Ueda and Kenji Kaido as main leaders of the Team, and both of them still remain as leaders.
In 2001 Team Ico released their first videogame named Ico, which gave the team their name. Ico is a puzzle-plat former and action-adventure game for the Play station 2 about a boy born with horns in an ancient world and his explorations in the adventure. Although Ico was not followed by commercial success, it was acclaimed later on for introducing revolutionary elements in videogame technology and graphic design.
Shadow of the Colossus followed Ico in 2005, another action-adventure game for PlayStation 2. As a successor of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus also narrates an epic story about a boy; the target in this story are giant creatures the you must defeat looking for their weaknesses, for what has been described as a puzzle-game.
Even though at that moment they didn’t succeed, they have become cult videogames in the history of software.
The graphic design and the original soundtracks make them my two favourites.
