NIGERIAN WOMEN-by María Rico

NIGERIAN WOMEN

67% of Nigerian women have been abused by their relatives . They receive psychological attacks, such as insults. But that is not all, they also receive physical attacks, for instance, they are hurt with a stick or they are also abused sexually. What does the government think about all this?
On the one hand the government should protect these women from the attacks, but unfortunately they don’t do anything and in some cases they even approve violence. This is why some police think that everything that happens between families should be private so they don’t do anything about it.

However, nowadays there are more and more women who are protesting, because they think that what is happening is an injustice. In addition, they want to change people´s thoughts about women. They want to have a normal life, just like men.
They are coming across many difficulties, for example, on the one hand they can report the attacks to the police, but on the other hand they are afraid, because if they went to the police, their husbands would do worse things to them.

From my point of view, instead of being on the street protesting, women should seek measures, such as, talking to their government so they can search for solutions to stop with these different situations .
Another important solution is to improve the vigilance in people´s houses so that the relatives can't do anything to women. Unfortunately, if the government is against changing these situations, it will be really difficult to change all this.
To conclude, from my point of view, I think things should start to change in these types of countries. The government has to change the laws related to women and must be more careful about women´s protection.
