The Kiekeboes

The Kiekeboes are a comic strip created by the Belgian drawer Merho in 1977, at first the drawings were posted in some Belgian newspapers like the Gazet van Antwerpen, and then they were published as comics by the publisher Standaard Uitgeverij.
The Kiekeboes are the best sold books in Belgium, over the years they have become very popular, especially with the younger population.
All the comics are written in Flemish and a few of them were translated to English and French, the comic wasn't as popular in other countries as in Belgium.

The main characters of this series are: Marcel Kiekeboe who is the protagonist, he is a man with a very normal job, a wife and two kids, but in the comics he experiences a lot of adventures. He's around 40-45 years old
Charlotte Kiekeboe: Charlotte is Marcel's wife, Charlotte isn't as adventurous as the rest of her family. She's around 40-45 years old
Fanny Kiekeboe: Fanny is Marcel's and Charlotte's daughter. Every single man in any comic finds her really attractive, in every comic she has a new boyfriend. She's around 18-20 years old.
Contstantinopel Kiekeboe: Constantinopel is Marcel's and Charlotte's son and he's Fanny's brother. He's very smart and knows loads loads of things about computers. He's around 10-12 years old.
There are lots of other characters but the Kiekeboe family are the protagonists of this series.

The Kiekeboe family has lived through thousands of adventures, they have saved the world a couple of times and they have saved some art pieces like the golden mask of Toetanchamon, even though they seem like a very average family, they have been to the strangest places on Earth, they have saved a lot of people, and sometimes even the world.

Since 1977, 140 comics have been published and are still being made, every three months a new Kiekeboe album is posted and lays in every book store in Belgium.
