THE BLACK KEYS-by Cristina Ascorve

The Black Keys
The Black Keys are a rock band formed by Dan Auerbach, who plays the guitar and sings, and Patrick Carney, who plays the drums. The band started to play in Ohio, in 2001, but their first album, “The Big Come Up” came out in 2002. Their style was blues-rock; but then, in 2010, they started to play another genre called garage rock. It was in that time when they started to become famous, with the album “Brothers”.
The idea of their band name was inspired by an schizofrenic friend who used the expression “black keys” to refer to people who´s not very balanced. A double meaning can also be interpreted as the fact that the black keys of a piano contains a pentathonic scale associated with the blues and rock.
The band had released 8 albums in which, in my opinion, each album is betther than the previous one. My favorite album is called “El camino”, released in 2011. The genre of this album is rock and soul. My favorite ones are “gold of the ceiling” and “hell of a season”.
If you enjoy good rock music, I recommend you to listen to this band. If you like this one, you will enjoy others like Arctic monkeys, Current swell or The wild feathers for example.
