TECHNOLOGY DEPENDENCE by Anonymous

TECHNOLOGY DEPENDENCE

Computer technology is becoming extremely important in our daily routine. We use it in business, education, buildings and even aeroplanes. We have become much more dependent on computer and information technology. In the next decade we will witness that the Internet will be practically in every single object that we use: your alarm clock, your car and even your watch will be connected to the Internet. The internet of things, will transform the data centres.
In the next few years there will be potential challenges such as security, enterprise and privacy changes for different companies. There will be massive amount of data coming from different objects in the near future. The business behind the Internet will deliver $6.2 trillion by 2025.

This dependence in computer technology is only going to grow exponentially, which could imply a variety of dangers.
In the future we will control more and more forms of communications, education will improve and it will probably affect us in the way we work. New technologies have already been introduced to the market but only a low number of people know that they actually exist, there are lots of examples, but I would want to highlight Tesla, Pay Pal, Space X, Project Loon, Project Darpa, DeepMind, Boston Dynamics, Meka robotics and my favourite, Honda’s Asimo that can walk by itself and even talk to another person.
Also armies from all different countries are going for Artificial Intelligence and robotics that will radically change the wars of the future.

In my opinion, the main problem of computer technology is the potential dangers we will have to deal with, as examples we can remember, a drone strike in Yemen that killed at least 35 civilians, we have to remember that we can´t always rely on computer technology as an example of what occurred with MH370 of Malaysia airlines that occurred that mysteriously disappeared on the 8 of March 2014 with 239 passengers without a trace and it is still disappeared, or that we can’t rely on the cloud or the internet to store our personal information as Edward Snowden revealed that all our footsteps are tracked by the NSA of United States. But as well for many countries it has caused a brainteaser and compromising information revealed by many personalities has endangered their own classified files but the world´s most known is with no doubt Julian Assange, the founder of wikileaks.

My conclusion is that we should be very careful with computer technology and artificial intelligence. Countries should start to regulate them.
