The main character is a girl called Katniss Everdeen, who lives in the district number 12. In this book the world is different, depending whether you are rich and live in the Capitolio district or poor and you live in different districts.
Each year there are "Hunger Games" celebrated, which consist on the following: the president of each district writes in one paper the name of each kid (between 12-18 years-old) and then there is a draw in order to choose the children (two of each district ; one boy and one girl) that have to take part in the hunger games. One year, the draw picks out Katniss's sister who is 12 years-old. In order for her to save her sister, Katniss volunteers to participate in the hunger Hames,
